You can’t go wrong with these stylish phones only drawback you cannot dim the face at night that said I cannot fault them.

I had a really good Philips telephone and wanted to add another base unit so that I didn’t have to run up and down stairs to answer persistent ringing. Unfortunately technology and Philips have moved on and additional base units no longer available for my model, so I had to find a total replacement system.
The Panasonic KX-TG8423EB had excellent ratings in WHICH reports and three units to give greater flexibility in placement and Amazon had the best p[rice deal, so I bought it.
A couple of weeks on and I am trying to get to grips with the ‘phone technology.
It comes with copious instructions and facilities I have (currently) no interest in using. I am still on the learning curve and too early to give a meaningful report. Only downside, which may be remedied, is volume – my hearing is not great and I have to listen hard to callers. Fiddling with the ‘phones joy stick may be the answer and there is a voice enhancer facility but I hold back from fiddling with the controls least I cut the caller off! No doubt my techniques will improve with time. So far though, no regrets on my choice of the Panasonic.

I was looking around for a replacement for our old Philips DECT phone and was recommended this Panasonic and I was impresssed with the features offered. And, the design of the phone is impressive. It feels nice in the hand.
The reality was somewhat different. Firstly, the instruction manual is so poorly roduced. Lost somewhere deep inside was the fact that the three handsets were ready-tuned to the base station. So I had wasted my time tuning them again to base station 2 (thinking it was just quirky to start at no. 2) as well. Fortunately, they remained tuned to the base station supplied. The whole instructions defied logic and look messy.
My next criticism is the ring tones. Stylophone notes went out with the ark and those on offer are about as exciting as watching paint dry. Another reviewer mentioned the need to subscribe for caller ID.
Once you dial a number, there is an annoying delay before you hear the no. being called…and at a slow speed that sounds almost scarey. Plus once you hang up it takes ages to refresh ready for the next call – something I thought I’d leave behind with the old phone.
I turned off the key tones, which I would normally leave on, but they were so loud. Why can’t you adjust the volume on them?
On the positive side, using the toggle switch on the phone does make it easy to work your way through the various set-up menus and the colour screen allows you to see cleary.The volume of the ring tone can be set sufficiently to hear it, perhaps, above the TV and household noise. I decided to use the answerphone message that came on the set, as it sounds pretty good. The sound quality when the phone is in use is good and all I have to do is to add our directory of numbers to see how efficiently it is able to dial.
BUT….this is 2009 and there is little progression from our old phones. We are all used to, I’m sure, the fast working of a mobile phone. Why can’t home phones work as well?

I found that everything that the specification told you, was there. It looks smart and it immediately recharges as soon as you have used it. The useful thing about it is that it has a very simple-to-operate conference facility. This means that you do not have to listen to one half of the conversation and guess the other half. The joy stick operation is a very slick way to scan through various menus.

Very pleased with these ‘phones. Previous purchases of other makes have been disappointing as the charge quickly runs out. So far the Panansonic have been excellent.
