    According to the Constitution, we need the Electoral College because the people were generally uneducated and the Founding Fathers didn’t trust them to come the to proper decisions on their own.

    That being said, however, I think we are past that at this point in our history, with the advent of the internet and television, which expose more people to the information that they need to make informed and valid decisions on elections. I think we may need a constitutional amendment to fix this.
