USSR Repertoire (The Theory Of Verticality) by DJ Vadim

Released in 1996 on Ninja Tune. DJ Vadim is Russian born DJ / Producer. This is first full length album. The music on here is all instrumental trip hop / down beat, save for the odd vocal sample and the rap message someone left on his answering machine. It's all fairly dark and atmospheric. Very sedated and murky. DJ Vadim showcases a keen eye (ear?) for detail on Verticality. The tempos are very slow, the bass is really deep, there's plenty of textures and noise. Some of the tracks have a detuned jazz band playing in slow motion feel. Other tracks sound like background music for a murder / mystery movie. Vocal samples (including one of a pope) are slowed down and eerie sounding. Very spacey and sleepy. This album is super laid back and chill. Music for sitting a recliner, headphones on, joint in hand. The music is far from boring, all the minute details keep it interesting, no songs over stay their welcome. A good anti thesis to all the in your face, poppy rap music of today. Something a little more stylish and sinister. At 79 minutes, this album is a bitch to sit through though. An album this down tempo and long is bound to put some listeners to sleep. But they probably need the rest anyway. Not at all a bad debut. Two gay men were awakened to find a seven-foot charred cross in their front yard. Further compounding the problem were comments made by a Willacoochee City Council member who said he was not surprised by the incident because the town is largely anti-gay. The Chief of Police said it was probably a "bunch of n-gg-rs down the road that did it". However, the cross burning was just the beginning. A few weeks later their mailbox was destroyed followed by the death threats on their answering machine. Then the unthinkable occurred, their home burned to ruins. Roy Kirkland and Doug Sebastian had no idea that after all that had happened, the worst was yet to come concerning one of the nations largest Insurance Companies. This compelling documentary reveals how filmmakers Doug Sebastian and Roy Kirkland, both hate crime victims, come together to dig further ...

Answers to Questions & Critics (to put it mildly)

bit.ly bit.ly bit.ly TRANSCRIPT: "A simple question to representativepress" is a video asking me about my video called "Journalist Receives Death Threat for Talking About Israel." Now is this really a simple question or is it more of a loaded question? It actually makes two presuppositions. First of all, I think a reasonable person would assume I don't have the police report, right? And I think I provide a fair chance for someone to understand the story. I provide a link to the source in the video info. So you click on "more info" - there's a link right to the page which is the source for my video. There's the audio. And she says you can call the Berkeley Police Department so I assume you could do that and request a copy of the police report. But, I really don't think any fair minded person is gonna think that because I don't possess a copy of the police report that the information in the video is untrue. And you're making the assumption that there really were Israeli soldiers involved. But what we know is that there is a voice on the answering machine issuing a death threat because she dared talk about Israel. Now the caller says he has buddies who were trained in the Israeli Army, you're assuming what he's saying is true. You know his threat could - he's just maybe trying to make his threat even more dramatic. Who knows, maybe he does have friends. But to address another video now that tries to cast doubt on this story by saying the caller doesn't have an Israeli accent ...
