Answering machine 7/14/08
A collection of remarkable coincidences occurred on the evening of the 14th. As 2 guys were busy haying the rest of the bottom fields ,I puttered about the place. One of the chores was clearing out the answering machine. The last message I was about to delete turned out to be from Val. I'm sure you can imagine the enormous range of emotions that ran through me. I decided right there to never erase it, though I never knew when I'd have the courage to listen to it again. Mark happened to call shortly after and said I should record it on the Mac. The Garageband program didn't work for me,but the Imovie program did. Since I was in Imovie and now had a soundtrack, I thought I would see what picture would go with the movie. I opened up the picture file at random and the item that was highlighted fit perfectly with what were now her last words to me. The picture overlapped slightly so I opened at random the Itunes folder to fit a sound track to that and right in front of me was Rufus Wainwright a favorite of hers. I selected it and was again in need of pictures to go with the added soundtrack. I went to the last pictures loaded onto my Iphoto (that happened to come from Mark), and once again they fit thematically just perfectly. The problem was, how long should each of the stills last. One of the images Mark downloaded was a short movie file,so I used its length as a cue for all the still images. And now all of the images fit perfectly in time and theme. I decided to try one more time. There were four images at the end of Marks download that hadn't been used. I added them on top of a song that I picked out of a collection that I made for Val on our 23rd anniversary and selected her favorite one without thinking about the lyrics. I stopped there. I'd run out of images and ideas. I actually made very few choices. The video seemed to make itself
